The Naval Postgraduate School Faculty Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of our world-class educators and researchers who exemplify academic excellence, innovation, and dedication to service. The Richard W. Hamming Faculty Awards honor Naval Postgraduate School faculty members who demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and to exceptional teaching skills.
This annual award honors permanent faculty who are widely recognized for excellence in teaching—a quality reflected in their ability to inspire, engage, and transform students through meaningful interaction, deep subject knowledge, and a distinctive personal teaching style.
This award is presented annually to an NPS faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding effort and achievement in research in science or engineering. The award recognizes meritorious research having identifiable impact on Navy or other Department of Defense technology.
