Carl E. and Jesse W. Menneken Annual Faculty Award for Excellence in Scientific Research Honorees

This award is presented annually to an NPS faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding effort and achievement in research in science or engineering. The award recognizes meritorious research having identifiable impact on Navy or other Department of Defense technology. First presented in 1975 under the present name in order to honor the memory of Distinguished Professor Carl E. Menneken, Dean of Research. 

In 2015, NPS Dean of Research Jeff Paduan, announced the creation of two Menneken Awards, one for a senior faculty member that has exhibited ‘significant and sustained contributions’ and another for a more junior faculty member for ‘highly meritorious research'.
