Generative AI
As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes integrated into military and professional life, developing AI literacy is increasingly essential. Familiarizing yourself with generative AI tools and their capabilities can help you become more proficient in utilizing AI technology in general.
ChatGPT, Bing AI, and Bard are natural language processing models, a type of generative AI trained on large datasets of text. Through exposure to training data, they learn patterns that allow them to generate novel content similar in style and structure.
Many students are excited about AI technology but concerned about if and how to use it in academic work. Interim guidance released by the NPS Office of the Provost is your first step to better understanding NPS expectations for use of generative AI.
The NPS Generative AI Task Force has also developed a memo and poster with suggestions for how to use generative AI tools to support your learning—and what issues to be mindful of to stay on the right track.
