The Naval Postgraduate School provides advanced education programs for officers of all U.S. uniformed services, international partners and homeland security professionals. Our campus is centered around the historic Hotel Del Monte, predecessor of today‚Äôs Pebble Beach.

The archival collections focus on NPS; two Navy commands that utilized Hotel Del Monte on an emergency basis during World War II (the Del Monte Pre-Flight School and Naval Technical School, Del Monte); and, Hotel Del Monte. We also have a few specialized holdings such as the Yangtze River Patrol Collection and Buckley Collection of rare books on naval and military history.

Information about the Hotel Del Monte and its conversion to U.S. Navy commands, plus selected interviews with affiliated persons, may be found throughout this guide and on YouTube.

Campus History

The Naval Postgraduate School, initially established at Annapolis, Maryland, moved to Monterey after the Navy acquired historic Hotel Del Monte, predecessor of today's Pebble Beach.
